Our Commitment

This is Creative Enterprise (TICE) proudly recognises and celebrates the diversity of our staff, facilitators, schools, partners, and young people. We value both visible and non-visible differences and embrace the richness that diversity brings to our organisation. We are committed to promoting equality, challenging discrimination, and embedding inclusive practice into everything we do.

We aim to move beyond legal compliance to create an inclusive, equitable, and empowering environment for all—where everyone can flourish.

Purpose of this Policy

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Embed equality and diversity in TICE’s culture, operations, and values.

  • Provide a framework for continuous improvement.

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, and victimisation.

  • Advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations.

This policy applies to all staff, learners, schools, industry partners, sub-contractors, visitors, and volunteers.

Legal Framework: The Equality Act 2010

TICE complies with the Equality Act 2010, which protects against discrimination on the basis of:

  • Age

  • Disability

  • Gender Reassignment

  • Marriage and Civil Partnership

  • Pregnancy and Maternity

  • Race

  • Religion or Belief

  • Sex

  • Sexual Orientation

The Act requires us to:

Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All current and prospective staff and volunteers

  • Former staff (where applicable, such as references)

  • Current and prospective students

  • Sub-contractors, partners, and third-party providers

  • Visitors to TICE activities and services

It covers all aspects of engagement, including recruitment, training, service delivery, participation, complaints, and disciplinary processes.

Strategy for Implementation

To realise our commitments, we will:

  • Proactively challenge inequality, discrimination, and exclusion.

  • Build awareness of diversity through training, communications, and learning.

  • Assess and mitigate the impact of organisational policies and practices.

  • Promote inclusive images and language in our materials.

  • Build partnerships that enhance our diversity objectives.

  • Make reasonable adjustments to remove physical, digital, or procedural barriers.

  • Embed equality into teaching, learning, and all operational processes.

  • Ensure breaches of this policy are addressed through appropriate procedures.

Age Equality

We value the benefits of a mixed-age workforce and challenge stereotypes at all levels.

Disability Equality

We encourage disclosure and offer reasonable adjustments to remove access barriers.

Gender Equality

We promote inclusive environments for all genders and challenge harmful stereotypes and inequalities.

Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity Equality

We are committed to LGBT+ inclusion, protection from harassment, and respect for diverse identities.

Race Equality

We represent and respect racial and cultural diversity, actively tackling racism and promoting intercultural understanding.

Religion or Belief Equality

We respect freedom of belief and accommodate different religious and non-religious worldviews where possible.

Positive Action

TICE may use lawful positive action to:

  • Reduce disadvantage

  • Meet underrepresented needs

  • Improve representation

Such actions will always comply with UK equality law.

Prevent Duty

TICE takes its Prevent Duty seriously. Extremist views of any kind have no place within our organisation. We:

  • Ensure staff and facilitators know how to identify and respond to concerns.

  • Promote safe spaces for exploring ideas and critical thinking.

  • Refer concerns to appropriate authorities, including the police or local authority, when necessary.

Measuring Impact

We collect and analyse equality data to monitor performance, assess impact, and improve practice. This includes data on recruitment, participation, and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Managing Director: Holds overall responsibility for equality and diversity across TICE.

  • All Staff & Volunteers: Must uphold the policy and model inclusive behaviour.

  • Partners & Schools: Expected to support and comply with this policy in all engagements.

Complaints Procedure

Any individual who believes they have experienced discrimination, harassment, or victimisation should report it to us. We will treat all concerns seriously and respond in accordance with our:

  • Complaints Procedure

  • Harassment & Bullying Procedure

  • Grievance Procedure (for staff)

Policy Review

This policy is reviewed every two years, or in response to:

  • Legislative or regulatory changes

  • Best practice updates

  • Organisational needs
