Environmental Sustainability Policy.
INTRODUCTION
TICE (This Is Creative Enterprise) is committed to reducing its environmental impact and promoting sustainability across all of its educational programmes, workshops, and business operations. As a provider of creative industry learning experiences, we aim to embed sustainable practices and awareness into both our internal operations and the learning journeys of the young people and educators we work with.
POLICY OBJECTIVES
To minimise waste and reduce our overall environmental footprint
To promote awareness of environmental sustainability within our projects and among the students, mentors, and partner venues we work with
To ensure our activities align with best practices for environmental responsibility within the education and creative sectors
To integrate sustainability themes into appropriate TICE workshops and digital learning resources
AREAS OF FOCUS
Digital-First Approach
TICE prioritises digital delivery and documentation of learning wherever possible to reduce paper use and unnecessary travel. All student projects are hosted on our online learning platform (Learnworlds), and resources are accessed digitally.
Materials and Resources
We encourage the use of recycled, repurposed, or sustainable materials in relevant workshops (e.g., fashion, design, and product development) and avoid using single-use plastics or environmentally harmful supplies.
Travel and Venue Use
TICE promotes the use of public transport or group travel for attending workshops where possible. We work with existing cultural and educational venues rather than operating our own physical sites, which helps to reduce the environmental impact of our delivery model.
Sustainable Themes in Learning
Many of our projects explore sustainability, conscious consumerism, and environmental ethics. These themes are used to challenge students to think about their own role in shaping a more sustainable creative future.
COMMUNICATION AND TRAINING
This policy is introduced to all TICE mentors and staff at the annual TICE Mentor CPD Workshop before the start of each academic year.
Sustainability expectations and values are embedded into project design and briefing documents.
Mentors are encouraged to share environmental messages during workshops where relevant and to model responsible practices.
MONITORING AND REVIEW
This policy is reviewed annually and updated to reflect improvements in practice and emerging environmental priorities.
Feedback from schools, mentors, and partner venues is used to inform ongoing development.
COMMITMENT STATEMENT
TICE recognises the role we play in influencing the next generation of creatives and remains committed to reducing our impact and championing sustainability through education, collaboration, and creative practice.
